Blue Ridge Hospice has been the exclusive provider of licensed hospice care to people in a eight-county area since 1981. A private, non-profit, community-based organization, Blue Ridge Hospice is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and certified by Medicare/Medicaid to provide hospice and home heath services. We are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Included in our services is a free-standing, 8-bed residential center.Our location near the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia offers a wide range of living choices, easy access to Washington, D.C., and all the amenities of the Northern Virginia Area including first-rate schools, cultural activities, and the pleasures of country and/or suburban environments.

 The following employment opportunities are available: 

Hospice Physician– (Full Time or Part Time)

  • • Responsibility for the medical care and treatment of patients rendered by the hospice interdisciplinary team (IDT)
  • • Consults and cooperates with the patient’s attending physicians
  • • Provides direction and guidance to the staff/volunteers of IDT to assure the maintenance of quality standards of care for patients and families
  • • Actively participates in the clinical education and training for hospice patient care
  • • Knowledge of the principles and practice of primary medical care with at least a working knowledge of oncology
  • • Knowledge of palliative medicine, with particular emphasis on controlling symptoms associated with terminal illness
  • • Registration with the Drug Enforcement Agency to write scheduled prescriptions
  • • Doctor of Medicine licensed to practice in Virginia
  • • Demonstrated leadership skills with emphasis on teamwork and collaboration

 

RN On Call - (Full Time & Part Time)

  • • Provides telephone triage symptom management and focused home visits 
  • • Requires the ability to drive throughout service area
  • • Willingness to work either evening or night shift & rotating weekends
  • • Current RN state license required with a minimum of 2 years acute care experience
  • • Previous hospice experienced preferred
  • • Must have excellent assessment and problem solving skills
  • • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team setting
  • • Must be familiar with general use and functions of the computer

  

Thrift Store Manager– Leesburg (Full Time)

  • • Prior retail experience required
  • • Assists employees with resolving customer concerns
  • • Manages store budget and analyzes profit/loss statements
  • • Prepares sales reports for Regional Director
  • • Prepares work schedule for staff
  • • Conducts staff evaulations
  • • Orients volunteers to the store and its operations
  • • Must demonstrate merchandising skills/expereince
  • • Must possess excellent customer service skills
  • • Position requires evening hours and weekends
  • • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time

 

Thrift Store Associate – Leesburg (Full Time & Part Time Positions)

  • • Prior retail experience required
  • • Must demonstrate merchandising skills/experience
  • • Must possess excellent customer service skills
  • • Must have prior experience with cash handling and opening & closing stores
  • • Position will include sorting & pricing
  • • Position requires evening hours and weekends
  • • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time

  

Warehouse Drivier – Winchester (Part Time)

  • • Picks up and delivers merchandise at various locatoins, including our 8 thrift shops
  • • Heavy lifing up to 100 pounds on a regular basis
  • • Must be able to operate a 18 ft and 27 ft box truck, CDL not required
  • • Warehouse and fork lift experience, a plus
  • • Performs recycling and sorting of merchandise
  • • Loading and unloading of trucks
  • • Fast paced environment
  • • Must have a clean driving record
  • • Position requires some Saturdays

 

Maintenance Assistant – (PRN)

  • • Works with warehouse drivers loading/unloading trucks for new store openings
  • • Assists with office and POD moves
  • • Assists with new store openings
  • • Paints at PODs and Thrift Stores
  • • Performs daily maintenance such as sweeping, mopping and cleaning
  • • Mowing/landscaping at PODs and Thrift Stores
  • • Assist with snow removal at PODs and Thrift Stores
  • • Power washing and cleaning of windows at PODs and Thrift Stores
  • • Performs minor repairs on furniture and other items
  • • Hours are subject to change depending on the season
  • • Must be able to perform physically in aspects of lifting up to 100 pounds on a regular basis
  • • Must work in all environmnetal conditions
  • • Must have visual acuity sufficient to operate copmuter and other industrial equipment

 

Reliable transportation required. Background check and drug testing required at time of hire.
