Community Workshops

The Bereavement Department at Blue Ridge Hospice provides free grief and loss support to any family in the community, even if their loved one was not a hospice patient. Last year 2,348 visits were made to assist families needing grief support and individual or family counseling. We routinely offers work shops and grief and loss support for anyone in the community that has experienced a significant loss.  If you or someone you know is having difficulty coping with a loss, please consider the following series of support:

Safe Passage Grief Support Series
An 8-session, closed series that focuses on growth through grief in a safe, non-judgmental environment. This series is open for any person who has experienced the loss of a loved one and will address areas of concern typically experienced within the first 18 months. This group is offered throughout the year.

Circle of Support  A monthly drop-in education and support program for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one.

Jammin' Away the Blues This music-based grief support series is designed for children ages 6-16 who have experienced a loss.  Through the use of music and other activities, participants will have the opportunity to identify and work through feelings associated with a loss.

Holiday Bereavement Workshops
Offered annually in Woodstock, Front Royal, Berryville and Winchester. Previous workshops have been designed to address individual's special needs as they prepare for a holiday season without their loved one.

Grief in the Workplace  Workshops and support programs tailored to meet the needs of local businesses.  These services assist grieving employees and teach ways to help ease the impact this loss may have on morale, productivity, and overall workplace atmosphere.

Community Workshops  These provide crisis intervention related to grief and loss and include grief education seminars and offer support for the community at large.
