In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Blue Ridge Hospice has set the date of June 2, 2012 for A Garden Party at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley in Winchester.

A volunteer committee of Blue Ridge Hospice supporters, representing the wide area this not-for-profit organization serves, has been meeting this summer to begin planning the festive event. The six-acre spectacular gardens at the historic Glen Burnie house and the adjoining museum was the popular choice of the committee.

“We're very excited about bringing together friends of Blue Ridge Hospice in the lovely garden setting at Glen Burnie. This is an excellent way to recognize the dedicated efforts of a handful of people who 30 years ago planted the seeds for our organization to grow and meet this area's need for hospice care,” said Jeanne Mezzatesta, director of Development for Blue Ridge Hospice. Mezzatesta noted that Blue Ridge Hospice now provides hospice care to some 200 patients a day in eight counties and the City of Winchester, offers support to hundreds of family members, and makes its outreach programs available to the community at no charge.

A Garden Party will raise funds to meet patient needs, including providing care to those unable to afford hospice services. Mezzatesta said the event will feature a silent auction of original artwork and a live auction of high-end trips and packages, in addition to an elegant meal, entertainment, and a garden reception.

Sponsorships are welcomed to help in underwriting A Garden Party and various levels are available. Contact Mezzatesta at 540-536-5210 or at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for additional information.
